The firepower capability of police personnel assigned at the Himamaylan City Police Station in Negros Occidental got a boost from the high-powered guns donated to them by the local government unit.
Himamaylan City Mayor Raymund Tongson turned over seven units of M4 F5-DGIS assault rifles with corresponding magazines and ammunition to PLt. Col. Romeo Vargas, city police chief, on October 4.
This was after the signing of deed of donation was made between the city government and the Philippine National Police.
Vargas said that Himamaylan City Police Station, is among the high-risk police stations in Negros Occidental with manpower and firepower needs to be further strengthened to counter any threats from lawless groups.
He added that Mayor Tongson earlier gave 30 bandoliers and 30 tactical slings for guns to personnel of the Himamaylan City Police Station.
Vargas thanked the administration of Tongson for their all-out support to the police, in terms of their programs and projects, especially in the anti-drug campaign.
Each police personnel of Himamaylan City Police Station is also receiving 1,500 monthly allowance from the city government, he added.*
