Injured passengers in stable condition – VTI

The Vallacar Transit Incorporated reported that the passengers injured in an incident at the Ceres Terminal in Calindagan, Dumaguete City, on July 5, are now in stable condition.

Three minors who were sitting at the bus terminal waiting lounge were injured after being struck by a passenger bus.

In a statement, VTI said the company sympathizes with the injured and their families.

It said that the driver of the passenger bus has been serving the company for 15 years, with no record of major accidents. Prior to the accident, VTI added that the driver was even awarded with a “zero accident incentive.”

We would like to assure the families and the riding public that we are taking care of the injured by covering the expenses of their medical treatment, the company said.

It further said that the injuries sustained by the victims are non-life threatening, stressing also that they making sure all their needs are taken care of.

VTI initial investigations show that the passenger bus involved in the accident was not experiencing any malfunction, as they also assured the riding public that it was only an isolated case.

The driver is now under the custody of the Dumaguete City Police Station.

The VTI said that it will also conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, as the management also apologized to the families of the injured victims and the riding public, for causing undue distress.

It added that VTI will continue to serve the riding public with utmost regards to their safety and security.*
