Movie actor and television personality Javier “Javi” Benitez, son of former Third District Rep. Alfredo Benitez, formally declared yesterday his bid for the mayoralty post of Victorias City in Negros Occidental.
“I will be running for mayor of Victorias City in 2022, not for me or my family, but for all Victoriahanons,” Javi stressed during a press conference in Victorias City.
Javi made the declaration after incumbent Vice Mayor Jerry Jover also announced that he will be for running for mayor of Victorias City next year.
“I will be a mayor for everyone,” Javi said, stressing also that his administration, if given a chance to be elected as mayor, will be “clean, efficient and inclusive”, a government that adheres to the principles of accountability, transparency and openness.
We will be a government of pro-active and not reactive, he further stressed.
The tandem of Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer as well as the Metro Third District local chief executives, including outgoing Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, endorsed the tandem of Javi Benitez and Abelardo (JunB) Bantug, who will be his running mate as vice mayor.
Javi said it is not of age and years of experience, in serving the people.
Javi, who was joined by his mother, Nikki, and girlfriend, Sue Ramirez at the press conference, is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Political Science at the Sta. Clara University in the U.S. state of California. He took his master’s degree of Public Administration at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in Bacolod City.
Both wished him luck in his bid for the mayoralty post of Victorias City, and assured him of their full support.*
