BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Vice Mayor Jerry Jover has declared that he is running for mayor of Victorias City, several months after Javier “Javi” Benitez, son of former Rep. Alfredo Benitez, also signified his intention to run for the same position.

Jover, who launched his mayoralty bid on Sept. 8, said he is more than 100 percent sure of his decision.

“No backing out, and it’s non- negotiable”, he stressed.

Incumbent Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, who is now on his last term as mayor of Victorias City, is eyeing being second nominee for the party list Abang Lingkod, with Rep. Stephen Joseph Paduano who is seeking re-election as the first nominee.

Though he is fighting what he described a “giant,” Jover, in a statement he issued, said he is determined to win the battle. He likened his case to the biblical story of David versus Goliath.

“I don’t have money, but I know God won’t forsake me for this coming battle” Jover, who is set to complete his final term as vice mayor of Victorias City, said.

People’s trust, he added, is one of his mightiest tools to weather the coming political storm. Jover is a member of the PDP-Laban.*
