Mayor Neil Lizares of Talisay City, Negros Occidental, was again infected by COVID-19, as Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr is about to complete his 14-day quarantine, after being hit by the virus also early this month.

Lizares, in his social media account, has confirmed that he and some members of his family have been tested positive for COVID-19

He disclosed that he is experiencing mild symptoms.

But Lizares assured Talisaynons that he is taking every step possible to ensure that he is in good health, and will recover again successfully from the virus.

Lizares, Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco and Silay City Mayor Mark Golez tested positive for COVID-19 last month, while Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr has been also infected by the virus early this month.

All of the infected mayors have been fully vaccinated.

In confirming that he was again infected by the virus, Lizares said “it breaks my heart to see that members of my family and household have also tested positive”.

The Talisay local chief executive asked for his inclusion and that of his family in prayers for their speedy recovery, and all other COVID-19 patients.

Lizares also reiterated his call on still unvaccinated residents of Talisay to avail of the COVID-19 vaccine and to continue following the minimum safety standards and health protocols for added safety and protection.*
