Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. is informing its electricity consumers that the average residential rate for the billing month of October is P10.1788/kWh, a decrease of P2.0814/kWh from last month’s rate of P12.2602/kWh.

CENECO acting general manager Danny Pondevilla said the P2.0814/kWh rate decrease can be attributed to the reduction in generation charges due to decrease in Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) price, transmission, system loss charges, implementation of PCPC adjustment, and other pass through charges such as Lifeline & Senior Citizens Discount and Value Added Tax (VAT).

Pondevilla said the pass-through charges equivalent to P8.9922/kWh of the total power rate include the generation and transmission charges, Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC)-approved adjustments, government subsidies and taxes.

Only P1.1866/kWh of the power rate goes to CENECO through Distribution, Supply, Metering (DSM) Charges and Reinvestment Fund for Sustainable CAPEX (RFSC) for its administrative and operational services. Since 2010, CENECO’s DSM and RFSC rate has not increased, he said.

In monitoring the monthly electricity usage, consumers are advised to look at their kilowatt-hour consumption and not the amount. The amount may vary depending on the pass-through charges as shown above, Pondevilla added.*
