Missing fisherman rescued in Negros Oriental

A missing fisherman from the town of Hinobaan was rescued on September 16 by Philippine Coast Guard, PNP Maritime Command and Bantay Dagat personnel along the territorial waters of Brgy. Bongalonan in Basay, Negros Oriental.

The rescued fisherman was identified as Feb Macabani Cayao, 47, of Brgy. Asia, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental.

Cayao was rescued on board his damaged motorized banca ‘MBCA Ken’, by personnel of the 4th Special Operations Unit (SOU) of the PNP Maritime Command, PCG and the municipal Bantay Dagat personnel, about three kilometers from the shoreline of Basay, Negros Oriental.

The PCG reported that the motorized banca of Cayao was hit by a huge wave while engaged in fishing activities at around midnight of Sept. 16 in the vicinity of Brgy. Asia, Hinobaan.

Cayao was rescued more than 16 hours after the incident.*
