The forum, that will continue on August 3 and 4, is a combination of face-to-face sessions and virtual meet.

The sessions will tackle the new business environment, as well as the issues and challenges faced by micro, small, and medium enterprises.

Rebecca Rascon, DTI Western Visayas director, said the forum aims to promote creativity and innovation through emerging technologies, and to introduce the participants to various platforms as the sector transitions to the new normal.

She added the activity also intends to assist the employees to upskill their capacities to provide quality technical assistance to industries and MSMEs.

Rascon said the agency continues to pursue industrial strategies which focus on building competitiveness and strengthening MSMEs’ linkages and businesses in the global and domestic value chains.

“This is the first innovation-related activity of DTI Region 6 that is initiated to reinforce and improve the knowledge of our internal workforce to properly address the needs of our clients using innovation and technology,” Rascon said.

Jonathan Defensor De Luzuriaga, Philippine Software Industry Association president and chief executive officer of Spring Valley, the largest technology and innovation network in the Philippines, was the resource speaker during the forum that was attended by employees of DTI regional and provincial offices and MSMEs.*
