Senator Bong Go for President, Rodrigo Duterte for Vice President in the 2022 synchronized elections?
Asked for comment, Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday said “You know our decision will come after October. We will wait”. Lacson said.
He also said that the Nationalist People’s Coalition in Negros Occidental, where he is a member, has not talked politics yet.
The Commission on Elections scheduled the filing of certificates of candidacy for candidates in the May next year elections, on October 1 to 8 this year, including Saturday and Sunday.
President Duterte said earlier that Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has dreams of becoming president, but this was denied by the latter.
The allies of President Duterte have launched a campaign to persuade him to run for vice president in next year’s national elections.
Lacson distanced himself earlier from groups pushing presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara-Duterte-Carpio and Vice-President Leni Robredo to also run for president in the next year elections.
But Lacson joined other groups in supporting the call for former Negros Occidental Rep. Alfredo Benitez to run for senator in the 2022 elections.*
