The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office has condemned the killing of a police force multiplier on Thursday night by a gunman, claiming to be a member of the New People’s Army, at Purok 2 in Brgy. Poblacion, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
The unidentified suspect, armed with a .45 caliber pistol, barged into the house of the victim, identified by the Cauayan police as Jimmy Calibjo, 53, a member of the force multiplier group called “Peacemaker,” and shot him twice.
After the shooting the victim dead, the gunman claimed that they are NPA members, and they will return soon to get others.
Calibjo succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot, according to the Cauayan police.
PCol. Leo Pamittan, acting NOCPPO director, ordered the Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Unit to assist the Cauayan Police Station in the investigation into the shooting incident and hasten the solution of the case.
Stressing that they are not tolerating such barbarism against an ordinary citizen, Pamittan called on witnesses to coordinate with the police, for a speedy investigation and to give justice to the victim.*
