Over a hundred residents of Barangay Minoyan in Murcia benefitted from the medical and surgical mission conducted jointly by the Rotary Clubs of Bacolod South and Central at the Don Bosco Parish Gym.

Past District Governor, Dr. Enigardo Legislador, led the team of doctors namely, Noe Ricamara, Gian Ladines Kriska Salangsang, Von Aposaga and Carmen Limsiaco Tupas who provided pediatrics, obstetrics and minor surgery services, among others.

Legislador, chair of the Disease Prevention and Treatment Committee, said he was able to perform minor surgery on individuals who did not have access to these services.

“It was very rewarding to be an instrument in providing these vital services especially for those patients who have been nursing these conditions for so long,” he added.

Bernadette Rojas, wife of Mayor Gerry Rojas, expressed the municipal government’s gratitude to the Rotarians for their compassion towards the Murciahanons.

Disease prevention and treatment is one of Rotary Areas of Focus which also include environmental protection, basic education and literacy, water and sanitation, economic and community development, peace and conflict prevention and resolution and maternal and child health.

Meanwhile, the Murcia Water District installed a handwashing station at the parish gym where Rotarians led by past president Juliana Carbon, former manager of the Bacolod City Water District, led the lecture and demonstration on the proper handwashing.

RC Bacolod South is led by Illa Hilado and RC Bacolod South president is May Castro.*
