Army soldiers and reservists donated 15,000 cc of blood to the Provincial Health Office of Negros Oriental, during a bloodletting activity at Camp Leon Kilat in Tanjay City on Monday.

The activity was participated in by members of the 11th Infantry Battalion Delta Company, 302nd Infantry Brigade, Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit, Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets, and Army reservists.

Maj. Khadaffy Tawantawan, 302nd Civil Military Operations officer, said the bloodletting activity was a partnership between the Philippine Army, Negros Oriental PHO, and Sub-National Blood Center for the Visayas.

Tawantawan said the activity aims to raise awareness on the importance of donating blood to help save lives of those who are in need, especially the Negrenses.

“This is proof that the bayanihan spirit in our soldiers’ lives continuously exist without expecting anything in return,” he added. Col. Leonardo Peña, 302nd Infantry Brigade commander, assured Negrenses that they will continue to pursue the bayanihan spirit, aside from protecting them from lawlessness.*
