Globe reported that it has installed 572 new cell towers and upgraded 6,800 mobile sites to 4G LTE in the first six months of this year, aimed at addressing growing connectivity needs of Filipinos amid greater digitalization.

The company remains on track with its network rollout and targets.  It aims to end 2022 with about 1,700 new cell sites, beating last year’s 1,407 builds.

“Our network rollout momentum continues, and it is faster. We accomplished about 70% more than in the same period last year. We are very positive that we can set a new build record this 2022,” Joel Agustin, SVP and Head of Network Planning and Engineering at Globe, said.

As of end-June, Globe has already spent 56% or P50.5 billion of its P89 billion capital expenditure allocation for the year.

Globe’s aggressive network expansion is in line with its support for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including UN SDG No. 9, which highlights the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development.

This network buildup made its presence felt in the second quarter as proven by recognition Globe received from global analytics firm Ookla® as the Philippines’ Most Reliable Mobile Network, topping other players in terms of consistency and availability.

Based on analysis by Ookla® of Speedtest Intelligence® data, Globe achieved the highest Consistency Score™ of 79.44. The score speaks to the intensive investment that Globe has made to provide its customers with a consistent level of quality suited to their needs.

Likewise, Globe achieved a Most Available All Technology score of 93.11.  The availability score identifies the network whose users spend the highest percentage of their time on all technology.

In a statement, Agustin pointed out that these metrics earned Globe the recognition of being the Philippines’ most reliable mobile network, an elusive claim that only a few mobile operators in the world have managed to attain.

“All our efforts are not only aimed to elevate the standard of connectivity within the Philippines, but equally important, this continued drive will deliver a consistent level of quality,” he added.*
