The Department of Agriculture in Western Visayas is urging farmers to use seedling trays when growing their produce.
Flerida Demamay, DA Region 6 research focal person on farm mechanization, said that through the use of a seedling tray, a farmer can easily spot a seed-borne viral disease during the seedling stage.
Rice farmers can also save up to P4,000 per hectare when using seedling trays during the seed preparation, she said.
The farmer can only spend around P2,500 instead of the usual P6,500 per hectare, she added.*
