There are now 12 police personnel and a non-uniformed personnel (NUP) assigned in various police units being supervised by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, who tested positive for coronavirus, its spokesman, Maj. Edison Garcia, confirmed yesterday.
Garcia said three of them have already recovered, while nine others and the lone NUP were placed under isolation at a healing center in EB Magalona, Negros Occidental.
Meanwhile, three police personnel assigned at the Bacolod City Police Office, who were also infected by the virus earlier, have already recovered, Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, BCPO spokesperson said.
Garcia said that majority of those infected by Covid-19 were assigned in hotels and inns where Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) are being quarantined.
He explained that the number of positive cases increased after the Aug. 30 and 31 mass testing in the cities of Silay, Talisay, and Bago and the town of Murcia where some police personnel were among those who were tested.
Garcia said the police Covid-19 patients are asymptomatic.*
