The three quarantine facilities for COVID-19 patients in cities of Silay and Cadiz, as well as the Mambukal mountain resort in Murcia, Negros Occidental are now empty of occupants, Provincial Inter Agency Task Force action officer Rayfrando Diaz reported yesterday.

This also developed as COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental remains on the downward trend, from its peak of 4,400 in October to 321, as of December 9, a report of the Provincial Incident Management Team said.

Diaz also reported that Valladolid and Cadiz District Hospitals, as well as the Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial Hospital in Himamaylan City, which used to be designated as COVID-19 hospitals are also back to normal operations of accepting non-COVID patients.

“We are happy with what the province has achieved,” Diaz said.

Only the EB Magalona healing center has a single digit occupants, while none at Mambukal, Silay and Cadiz quarantine facilities, he added.

The COVID-19 patient occupancy of Cadiz District Hospital is now down to 30 percent.

Diaz, however, reminded Negrenses not to lower their guards, as COVID-19 is still around.

“When you go out, put your mask on especially in enclosed and crowded areas to minimize risk. Know how to live with the virus and we can hope to have a very merry Christmas,” he added.*
