July is observed as the National Nutrition Month in the Philippines every year, a celebration that puts value on every citizen’s good nutrition. This year’s 48th Nutrition Month celebration theme was “New Normal na Nurtisyon Sama-Samang Gawan ng Solusyon!”

As the Nutrition Council continually promotes sustainable food and healthy eating, Cadiz City government, through the City Nutrition Center, recently launched the city’s first Mobile Kitchen aimed at distributing nutritious food to Cadiznons in different barangays.

The ribbon cutting was led by City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., and assisted by Councilor Ging Desuyo and honored guests from the Nutrition Council, Dr. Azucena Dayanghirang, National Assistant Secretary and Executive Director; Arlene Reario, National Nutrition Program Coordinator and OIC-Chief of Nutrition Policy and Planning Division; and Reginaldo Guillen, Region 6 Nutrition Program Coordinator.

Also present were City Health Officer Dr. Maria Victoria Ibañez and City Nutritionist Cristina Wong.

Part of the celebration was the opening of the Nutri-Booths located at the Cadiz City Park. It is a competition where the 22 barangays of the city showcased their best products and best practices that emphasized their initiatives done towards healthy living.*
