CHMSC turns over PPE, soap, face masks to partners

Turning over of CHMSC safe soaps to SSG presidents*

Carlos Hilado Memorial State College turned over 500 sets of Personal Protective Equipment to its institutional partners who are in the frontline of the ongoing fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in a ceremony held on September 16, 2021, at the Global Learning Café of its Talisay Campus.

The following day, it turned over 3,500 soap bars, 1,500 bottles of liquid hand soap, and 12,000 face masks to its students, faculty, and staff, and the Talisay City LGU.

According to the press release, the PPE were a part of the CHMSC Safe Products project of the research and extension teams funded by the Commission on Higher Education under its Higher Education Development Fund Staff with a grant value of P754,047.00. The set of PPE consisted of suits, aprons, shoe covers, and face masks for health frontliners.

The sets of PPE were given to Bayanihan Mission represented by its founder and president, Dr. Josephine Grace Chua Rojo; Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital represented by Archie Celorio and Melchor Gana-an; and the Provincial Health Office represented by Zarina Zara Zafra, Provincial Epidemiological and Surveillance Unit Coordinator, and Stephanie Joy Guino-o, Disease Surveillance Officer.

Also present in the ceremony were representatives of Barangay Zone 3 in Talisay City Nancy Garcia, Brgy. Kagawad, Liza Anonsawon and Chirezel Jardeliza.  Their team served as CHMSC’s partner in the sewing of all the PPE.

The soap products in bar and liquid type were part of the CHMSC Safe Products project of the research and extension team funded by the Commission on Higher Education under its Higher Education Development Fund Staff with a grant value of P615,940.50. The soap products were made of bio-based ingredients with biodegradable and reusable packaging.

The soap products and face masks were turned over to CHMSC students represented by the SSG presidents of the four campuses represented by Jezhiel Grace Vicera – Alijis Campus, Rosalie Jalaman – Binalbagan Campus, Mark Francis De Asis – Fortune Towne Campus, and Sherwin Macahilig – Talisay Campus.; faculty represented by Ana Mary Ann Pancho; employees represented by TABBEA Vice President Arlene Visitacion; Talisay City Health Office represented by Richmond Yanson, Head of Contract Tracing Team, and representatives of Barangay Zone 5 in Talisay City, namely Mercy Desemero, Evangeline Vito, and Angena Recaborda.

Both ceremonies started with a welcome remark given by Rhoderick Samonte, Director for External Affairs followed by a message from Andrew Eusebio Tan, PhD, Vice President for Research and Extension.

In the September 16 ceremony, Ma. Lourdes Hagos, the project leader of the PPE Production Team gave her remarks about the project and its members. Mary Grace Nacionales, Director for Extension and Community Services gave the closing remarks after the presentation and turn-over of the PPE.

On September 17, Lydia Gorriceta, the project leader of the Hand soap Making Team gave her remarks about the project and its members. Mary Grace Nacionales, Director for Extension and Community Services gave also a brief detail of the CHMSC Safe Products that underwent thorough quality control.
