The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group joined the investigation to resolve the killing of illegal drug operative P/Staff Sgt. Joseph Nepumoceno who was gunned down along Rosario Street, Bacolod City Sunday.

P/Lt. Col Jovil Sedel, head of the BCPO Investigation and Detection Unit said, P/Col. Manuel Placido heads the task force that was created for the swift resolution of the case.

Aside from CIDG and BCPO, Police Station 1, the Police Regional Office-6 crime laboratory will also be joining the investigation, Sedel said.

He said they will convene next week to discuss the case, adding that as of the moment, they are reviewing the closed circuit television camera footages near the spot where Nepumoceno was killed.

Sedel added that they hope to decode the password of Nepumoceno’s cellular phone for possible leads as to the identity of the suspects.

BCPO has already sent policemen at the residence of Nepumoceno in Brgy. 14 to secure his grieving family, who were recently visited by Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia and PRO-6 Director P/ Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan

PNP Chief Guillermo Elazar earlier this week ordered PRO-6 and the BCPO to resolve Nepumoceno’s killing immediately.

Nepumoceno, 37, a member of the BCPO Drug Efocement Unit was gunned down by two-men on a motorcycle past 5 p.m. Sunday.

Although it appears that the shooting could be work-related, BCPO is also eyeing other angles behind the crime.*
