Despite rising COVID-19 cases all over the country, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday declared that it is “manageable” in Negros Occidental.
“Our hospitals are not getting filled up with COVID-19 cases,” said Lacson, who also noted that those getting infected, are mostly vaccinated and experiencing mild cases which are treatable at home.
As of May 14, Negros Occidental logged 148 active cases.
Lacson reiterated his advice for senior citizens, as well as unvaccinated individuals to wear masks, which is a must for them.
Unvaccinated persons may also visit their respective rural health units for inoculation, the governor said, stressing that there are still Sinovac vaccines available.
We need not to be choosy (of the vaccines), especially now that the national government is not distributing any, Lacson stressed.
As of May 15, the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health and Development logged 23 local cases in Negros Occidental, and 15 in Bacolod City.*
