A total of 22 farmers in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental have received land titles and were subsequently installed in separate rites facilitated by personnel of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

Eighteen agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) yesterday became new landowners of agricultural properties in Barangay Camalobalo.

Twelve ARBs were awarded certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) to 16.88 hectares formerly owned by spouses Rafael and Lourdes Guanzon while six were given titles to 12.47 hectares of land that used to belong to Maria Limoncito.

Senior Agrarian Reform Program Technologist Clark Estama and Agrarian Reform Program Technologist Daisy Dalguntas led the ceremonies on behalf of Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Drexel Glen Pajarilla.

“The implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program has come a long way and everyone should be credited. Despite the many obstacles, we have succeeded in the land acquisition and distribution,” Estama said in a statement.

Dalguntas told the ARBs to perform their obligations by paying taxes to the local government unit and land amortization to the Land Bank of the Philippines.

“Form an organization to avail of various support services, such as the provision of common service facilities, livelihood training, microfinance, and many more,” she added.

On Thursday, four ARBs were also awarded titles and installed on nine hectares of agricultural land in Barangay Narauis previously owned by Nicolas Sian Monteblanco.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Dolly Chua, who led the CLOA distribution and installation activities, encouraged the farmer-beneficiaries to make their land productive as this would lead them to improve their standard of living.*PNA
