DSWD distributes P10-M in cash

The Department of Social Welfare and Development distributed at least 10 million in financial assistance under the agency’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program to several residents in various barangays in Bacolod yesterday.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia led the distribution of P10,000 each to 18 families affected by fire from Barangay Alijis and 16 from Brgy. 12 which was also made possible through the efforts of Senator Christopher Go.

Some 3,308 vendors from Libertad, Central, and Burgo public markets along with other sectors also received P3,000 in cash each.

The financial aid was distributed at the Gonzaga Gym in Barangay Taculing. Other distribution areas were Bacolod City Government Center lobby, Libertad Market, and Marapara Gym.

Go, was represented by Samantha Dela Peña while DSWD was represented by Assistant Secretary Victor Neri.

On top of that, Go’s staff distributed lunch packs to beneficiaries, and raffled off mountain bikes, shoes, and tablets and also distributed additional P2,000 each for the families affected by the fires.

Leonardia said that the  pandemic, affected everyone and not only Bacolod as he lauded the efforts of Go in donating cash and other assistance City Social Welfare and Development head Pacito Tero was also assisted in the distribution of the aid.

AICS is part of DSWD’s protective services for the poor, marginalized and vulnerable/disadvantaged individuals.*
