Netherlands Ambassador to Ireland Adriaan Palm and Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr., together with SM assistant mall manager Julia Javellana led the opening of a group art exhibition titled “Mga Bulak para kay Nanay” at the North Bridgeway of SM City Bacolod yesterday.

The show, in celebration of Flores De Mayo and Mother’s Day, features the artworks of members of the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros (AAB-N), in partnership with SM City Bacolod, and will run until June 4.

Escalante thanked the artists for coming up with a show that pays tribute to mothers and parents, and for encouraging young artists to develop their skills.

They have been conducting activities like art competitions to help revolutionize art in Cadiz City, he said, adding that they got their inspiration from the artists of Bacolod City.

Meanwhile, Javellana said the show is a commendable effort of the AAB-N, the oldest art association in the Visayas which was founded in 1975. So she is inviting the group to hold an exhibit when their new facility, The North Block when it opens next year.

AAB-N is the longest-running art group in the country next to the Art Association of the Philippines.*
