Guam Lt. Governor Joshua Franquez Tenorio turns over a token of appreciation to Negros Occ. Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, who led the province’s delegation in visiting the US island territory.*

The possibility of a sisterhood between Negros Occidental and Guam was among the topics discussed between Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and island Lt. Gov. Joshua Franquez Tenorio, according to Provincial Information Officer Charina Magallanes-Tan.

Lacson, accompanied by Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, Provincial Tourism Officer Cheryl Decena and Tan, paid a courtesy call on Tenorio, the lieutenant governor of Guam.

Upon invitation of Philippine Consul General Patrick John Hilado, Lacson spoke at the Independence Day celebration of Guam on June 8, as the guest of honor and speaker.

Tan disclosed that Gov. Lacson and his delegation will also visit other government agencies to explore possible partnerships between Guam and Negros Occidental in the field of tourism, agriculture, and investment opportunities.

Tenorio, a businessman, is the 10th governor of Guam, an island territory of the United States in the Western Pacific.

Tan also said they also promoted the province in terms of tourism and investment opportunities to the residents of Guam.

Upon arrival in Guam in June 7, Lacson paid a courtesy call on Consul General Hilado at the Philippine Consulate Office.

Lacson and his team are slated to return to Negros Occidental on June 10.*
