Bryan Morden of XFM 96.7 Bacolod was elected president of the Negros Press Club during the club’s general assembly and election of officers for 2023-2024 at the NPC Media Center in Bacolod City Saturday.

Morden garnered 36 votes out of the 98 votes cast during the election, earning the win over his closest rivals, outgoing NPC vice president Rey Siason of Muews Radio who got 30 votes and Erwin “Ambo” Delilan of Panay News with 24 votes.

Elected vice president was Merlinda Pedrosa of SunStar Bacolod, who garnered 42 votes over Jun Gaton of DYRL’s 28 votes and Rox Estrella also of DYRL with 24 votes.

Max Macahilo of Negros Now Daily was elected treasurer with 38 votes over Henceboy Cestina of DYRL who got 34 votes.

Unopposed were Prime Tejida of RMN DYHB and Elsie Joingan of Negros Daily Bulletin who were elected secretary and auditor, respectively.

Elected board of directors were Jemlo Victosa of RMN DYHB who garnered 56 votes, Mae Singuay of Panay News – 48 votes, Marchel Espina of SunStar Bacolod – 43 votes, and Alvin Grava of Aksyon Radyo Bacolod – 38 votes.

The election committee was composed of NPC past presidents Modesto Sa-onoy, Glazyl Masculino-Jopson, Eddie de la Fuente, Chrysee Samillano and Renato “Boy” Duran as chairman.

Meanwhile, the membership committee is composed of Sa-onoy, Duran, Jopson, Arman Toga and Dolores Epacta-Miranda.

The Negros Press Club, established in 1936, is the oldest press club in the country.*
