Negros Occidental was named among the Top 10 winners of the 2021 Galing Pook Awards all over the country.
Of the 206 applicants from the different local governments all over Philippines, the Negros Occidental Coastal Wetlands Area Management Alliance entry of the province was chosen as among the top 10 finalists.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson received the award, on behalf of the province during a virtual awarding ceremony on October 20. It was witnessed by Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, Provincial Environment Management Office chief Julie Ann Bedrio, Executive Assistant to the Governor and Public Information officer Charina Magallanes-Tan, among others.
The 2021 Galing Pook Awards is presented by the Galing Pook Foundation, Department of the Interior and Local Government – Local Government Academy, and SM Prime Holdings.
Other finalists were Agusan del Sur; Alabat, Quezon; Cagayan de Oro City; Quezon City; San Juan City; Tagum City, Davao del Norte; and Valenzuela City.*
