The Department of Interior and Local Government yesterday turned over P47 million incentive funds to seven Negros Occidental local government units for being recipients of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for 2022.
The recipients of P7 million in incentives each were the cities of San Carlos, Himamaylan, Talisay, Bago, Silay and Sagay, and P5 million for the municipality of Hinobaan, all in Negros Occidental.
DILG 6 regional director Juan Jovian Ingeniero yesterday led the distribution of financial incentives to mayors of the seven LGUs at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, also attended and witnessed by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, DILG provincial director Teodora Sumagaysay and Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, among others.
Lacson lauded the LGU awardees for their hard work, efficiency, and dedication to results-oriented public service, and their commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in government.
“To our mayors, your sterling leadership serves as an inspiration to everyone and is proof of the positive impact that one effective leader can have on his office and constituents,” he stressed.
The DILG said the SGLG symbolizes the journey of the LGUs towards good local governance by upholding the standards of transparency, integrity, and service delivery.
It added that the financial assistance is up for use for local priority projects or reforms that will help enhance transparency and accountability in all local government transactions, intensify the preparedness of LGUs against disasters, ensure the delivery of quality health services, and boost economic development, among others.
Lacson also thanked the regional and provincial DILG offices for their consistent help and guidance to the LGUs to meet the parameters of good governance.*
