The Our Lady of Candles Parish at Capitol Heights, Bacolod City, with other parishes in the Diocese of Bacolod, will hold a prayer vigil on Monday, in time for President Duterte’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), Fr. Felix Pasquin said yesterday.
The holding of prayer vigils is in response to Bishop Patricio Buzon’s July 18 statement on the denial of the franchise application of ABS-CBN, Pasquin said.
In that statement, the Bishop pointed out the danger that our country can retrogress to tyrannical rule because of the a series of attempts to stifle and silence independent voices, Pasquin said.
We must stand up and speak now, the bishop said.
“The Bishop, in his Circular Letter Wednesday on the organization of a Holy Hour or Prayer Vigil in time for the SONA, is reminding people “to do their share in keeping our society safe and our democracy vibrant. Being apathetic and silent in this trying times is not an option,” Pasquin said.*
