A resolution requesting the Bacolod City Health Office (CHO), through the Office of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, to lead the City of Bacolod’s observance of National Deworming Month this January 2023, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.
The resolution authored by Councilor Claudio Puentevella, chair of the SP Committee on Health, said that every January, the Department of Health is observing the National Deworming Month with the campaign theme: “Makilahok sa Oplan Goodbye Bulate para sa maging malusog, masigla, at matalino ang inyong mga anak!”
It aims to combat and reduce Soil Transmitted Helminth Infections (STH) through mass drug administration of anthelmintic medicines to at-risk populations such as children, pregnant women, food handlers, farmers and indigenous populations, it said.
The resolution said the CHO is the lead department that is responsible for public education and awareness program relative to national deworming campaign so that all Bacolodnons are accorded with the benefit of having a responsive healthcare program.*
