WV crimes down by 43 percent

Crime incidents reduced by 43 percent ion Western Visayas, from October 29 to November 2 this year, compared to the same period in 2020, regional police spokesperson PLt. Col. Arnel Solis yesterday said.

Solis said that a total of 174 crime incidents were reported, compared to 307 last year, registering a decrease of 133 incidents, equivalent to 43.32 percent reduction.

In the same period, he added that Police Regional Office 6 also recorded 22 incidents on Eight Focus Crimes, such as murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery, motorcycle theft, carnapping, compared to 47 incidents, in previous year.

Because of the decisive interventions and collective efforts of all line units, there had been a notable decrease on crime incidents during this period of Undas, he added.

Solis declared that the all Soul’s and all Saint’s Day celebration on November 1 and 2, 2021, respectively, was generally peaceful.

He also reported that thousands of policemen and women were deployed in different strategic areas in Western Visayas to provide police presence and performed various public safety services.

There were 9, 337 force multipliers that augmented the police force in all areas of convergence, cemeteries, ports and terminals, while Police Assistance desks were also established as part of proactive measures since the closure of all cemeteries regionwide from October 30 to November 2.*
