Businesswoman Olivia Yanson and son Leo Rey re-affirmed their leadership and management of Mindanao Star Bus Transport Inc. (MSBTI), and Bachelor Express. Inc (BEI), in separate annual stockholders’ meetings on January 15 and 16, respectively.
During the annual meeting on January 15, Olivia Yanson, Leo Rey Yanson, Ginnette Dumancas, Charles Dumancas, Rey Ardo and Arvin John Villaruel were re-elected as members of MSBTI’s board of directors, a press statement from the company said.
Mindanao Star Bus is a public transport firm plying the routes of Mindanao.
The board held an organizational meeting thereafter and Leo Rey Yanson was re-appointed as chairman of the board and president of MSBTI and Olivia Yanson as corporate secretary and treasurer.
Olivia was appointed last year by a Bacolod court to be the special administrator of the estate of her late husband Ricardo Yanson.
During the BEI annual stockholders meeting on January 16, matriarch Olivia Yanson, Ginette and Charles Dumancas, Ardo, Villaruel, Anita Chua, Daniel Nicolas Golez, Hernan Omecillo, Danny Lorenton and Alfredo Ligo Jr. were re-elected as members of board of directors.
BEI also plies the Mindanao routes.
Following the election of the directors, another press statement from the company said that the Board held an organizational meeting, wherein Leo Rey Yanson was re-appointed as Chairman of the Board and President of BEI, while Olivia Yanson was re-appointed as BEI’s Corporate Secretary and Treasurer.
The company statement further said that despite the proper and timely notices given, stockholders Roy Yanson, Ricardo Yanson Jr., and Emily Yanson were absent during the meeting.
Roy, Emily and Ricky are believed to be unable to attend the meeting because they are abroad together with their sister Celina Lopez, the statement added.
Leo Rey Yanson, the re-elected chairman and president, said that despite the challenges faced in 2021, MSBTI and BEI have remained strong and resilient.
“It continues to be steadfast in its goal to serve the Filipino people. MSBTI remains committed to providing the riding public with the most reliable means of public transportation for all,” he said.
In December 4 last year, Leo Rey was also re-appointed as chairman of the board and president of Vallacar Transit Inc, with his mother, Olivia, the co-founder of the company, was re-appointed as corporate secretary and treasurer, during the annual stockholders meeting.
Also re-elected as members of the board of directors were Ginnette and Charles Dumancas, Chua, Villaruel and Golez, the company statement said.*
