Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez reiterated yesterday Team Asenso’s commitment to give Bacolod City a government that is transparent, accountable and responsive to the needs of Bacolodnons.
Benitez read the covenant of his team during a courtesy call he paid on the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City during its inaugural session yesterday. He said they signed the covenant during the campaign period which they hope to fulfill once they get elected.
“Our team is composed of independently minded individuals who have come together for a common goal of establishing a city administration which will truly serve and empower Bacolodnons, especially the poorest and the least among us,” he said.
Benitez said he hopes that the City Council together with the new administration will be more responsive to the needs of the people.
“It is incumbent on us to make sure that everyone’s voice will be heard by this body. If we do that, l guarantee everyone that we will be delivering the covenant we have pledged and we will have a more responsive government,” he said.
“With the leadership of the Vice Mayor and the confidence of the newly elected officials, let us move forward and bring a brighter future to Bacolod City,” Benitez added.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran thanked Benitez for gracing their inaugural session and assured him that they are ready to support all his programs and provide him the legislative needs of his administration.
Councilor Renecito Novero, meanwhile, sponsored a resolution expressing the profound appreciation of the Sangguniang Panlungsod for the appearance and inaugural address of Benitez during their inaugural session yesterday.*
