Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez delivers his first six month report as mayor of Victorias City, Negros Occidental.*

A 26-hectare Sidlak Victorias Global City, dubbed as a “city of the future,” will soon rise in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

This was revealed yesterday by Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, during his first six-month report as the local chief executive of Victorias City, which was attended by City Hall employees and department heads, representatives of various government agencies, and his parents and relatives, including Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez.

Benitez, who reported his accomplishments in the first six months of 2022, said he is targeting to finish the new Victorias City Government Center, to be located in the 26-hectare Sidlak Victorias Global City, within his first three-year term as mayor.

Our dream is to make Sidlak Victorias Global City a place where we can live, work and play with perfect balance that cares for our environment and is open to progress, the neophyte mayor stressed.

Benitez said that the previous administration has allocated P50 million for the site development and P300 million for the structures of the new government center.

He reported that they intend to hire a master planner with the credentials to make Victorias a “city of the future.”

“Things that are progressive and modern will be implemented (in the global city),” Benitez stressed.

We dream of a smart, livable and sustainable Victorias City in the future, the mayor said.

Benitez also announced the construction of a P55 million evacuation center, using funds provided by the Local Government Support Fund, as part of his Six Point Agenda on Disaster Resilient Community Platform, and to implement P145 million worth of flood control and foreshore protection projects in Brgys. 6A and 9 in Victorias City.

Other mega projects of his administration also include housing, while the establishment of the Victorias City General Hospital is being deliberated in Congress.

We want to build a place where we can co-exist with happiness and contentment, by building and strengthening the bonds between friends, families and strangers that give life meaning, bonds that represent the City’s greatest achievement and opportunity, Benitez said.

In Victorias, we are getting the right people on board, we are learning the new and best technology available, we are embracing the best practices of those who succeed, and most of all, we are united in hearts and minds, he added.*
