Two suspects on a motorcycle shot and killed a probationer along circumferential road in Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod City, yesterday morning.
The victim was identified by the police as Noel Peraren, 54, a tricycle driver and a resident of Purok Bantud in the barangay.
Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, spokesperson of the Bacolod City Police Office, said that Peraren was traversing the east direction of the circumferential road on his tricycle when he noticed that he was being followed by a motorcycle, and he accelerated, but was shot later.
His tricycle hit a sari-sari store after he was shot, police investigations showed.
He died on the spot from gunshot wounds and a resident claimed to have heard at least six gun shots.
Recovered at the crime scene were several empty shells of still undetermined calibers of firearms.
The motive is still being established by Police Station 8 investigators.
Peraren, a father of six children, hailed from Cuayan town, Negros Occidental, and was temporarily residing in Pahanocoy with his live-in partner. Police records showed that he was arrested in 2016 for illegal possession of firearms but was released on probation.*
