The Abanse Negrense Beach Volleyball Tournament Provincial Championships reached its conclusion at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City on November 25-26, with 4 LGU teams named champions in different age categories, including Silay A, Bacolod City, Bago City, and Talisay City.
In the 21-Under Boys category, Silay A won first place. Silay B, on the other hand, ranked second while Victorias A landed in third place and Pontevedra nabbed the fourth place award. As for the 21-Under Girls, Bacolod City defeated Himamaylan, which landed in second place.
Pontevedra followed in third place and E. B. Magalona was the fourth-placer. Bago City and Talisay were both champions in the 16-Under Boys and 16-Under Girls Categories. Both teams were followed by Silay, Victorias, and San Carlos City in second, third, and fourth places respectively in both the 16-Under Boys and 16-Under Girls categories.
The champion teams received P8,000 in cash, while the second placers got P6,000. The third placers received P4,000 and the fourth-place winners took home P3,000. All the winners received cash prizes and medals.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Provincial Sports Office head Anthony Carlo Agustin, and Special Program and Concerns Division (SPCD) project development officer Engr. Jose Maria Amugod attended the opening ceremony on November 25.
In his speech, Lacson stressed that the provincial government prioritizes sports development. He revealed that the Pana-ad Park and Stadium is currently undergoing construction to improve its sports venues and facilities.
The governor also expressed his gratitude to the various LGUs for their participation and continued support of the Abanse Negrense Grassroots Sports Development Programs.
Lacson said he hopes to provide the Negrense youth the place and venue to improve their skills in sports.*
