The 31 local government units of Negros Occidental yesterday logged zero COVID-19 cases after several weeks of continuing decline in numbers.
According to reports of the Provincial Incident Management Team, the number of COVID-19 active cases in the province further dropped to 40 as of April 1.
This also developed as Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday issued an executive order placing cities of Sagay and La Carlota, as well as municipalities of EB Magalona, Pulupandan and San Enrique under Alert Level 1 status, as well as extending the Alert Level status 2 of remaining local government units in the province, starting from April 1 to 15.
Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental was also placed under Alert Level 1 by the Inter Agency Task Force.
Under Alert Level 1, intrazonal and interzonal travel shall be allowed without regard to age and comorbidities.
All establishments, persons, or activities, are allowed to operate, work, or be undertaken at full on-site or venue/seating capacity provided it is consistent with minimum public health standards.
Lacson yesterday lauded the approval by IATF on the classification of alert level status per local government unit stressing that it will encourage other LGUs to further strengthen their vaccination campaigns.
He thanked the IATF and the Department of Health for granting their request for alert level classifications in Negros Occidental be done per LGU, and not by the province.
“It’s a good move. It is also like rewarding of their efforts already,” Lacson said, apparently referring to the COVID-19 accomplishments of the five Negros LGUs that are now under Alert Level 1.*
