BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson laughed off reports that he may transfer to the rival political group, United Negros Alliance, should former Rep. Alfredo Benitez decide to run for governor under Love-Negros.

Lacson said yesterday that Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, who is the UNegA president, has manifested support to their political group in keeping with the coalition deal with Love-Negros, and “the same thing also on our part.”

“There has been no transfer of groups because we respect each other’s choice,” Lacson said.

The governor recently administered the oath-taking rites of newly-elected UNegA officials, headed by Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Maranon III, upon their invitation.

“I’m still with Love-Negros,” Lacson said.

Ferrer earlier confirmed that he will still run as the vice governor of Lacson, who, he said, will get the support of UNegA in his re-election bid.

He added that if ever there will be someone who will run against Lacson, “it will not come from UNegA.” Lacson maintained that the “Love Negros-UNegA coalition is still holding very well, as we speak right now.”*
